Sarah Pluves Holistic Therapies on Wahanda

Welcome

Reflexology, Bowen Technique and Reiki in Cheshunt, Cuffley, Broxbourne, Welwyn Garden City, Enfield and surrounding areas

Sarah Pluves is a Holistic Therapist with a clinic in Cheshunt serving Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Welwyn Garden City, Enfield and Cuffley and surrounding areas.  A limited number of home visits are also available in the Cheshunt area.

Therapies offered include Bowen Techniquereflexology, and Reiki, all designed to balance mind, body and spirit.

Holistic therapies are drug free, safe and suitable for almost anyone, whatever their age.  Focusing on the whole person and not just the symptoms, holistic therapies aim to bring balance to the whole body.  For example, if you suffer from headaches, we would look for the root cause to identify if it is stress-related, hormone-related or perhaps due to neck strain, and then offer an appropriate treatment plan.

What is Holisitc Health?

Holistic health is actually an approach to life. Rather than focusing on illness or specific parts of the body, this ancient approach to health considers the whole person and how he or she interacts with his or her environment. It highlights the relationship of mind, body, and spirit.  In holistic health, people want to achieve not just balance of mind, body and spirit but maximum functioning of all three parts.  If one part is not working then this will affect the other parts.   For example, the stress a person feels about moving house may result in stomach problems whilst someone grieving over a long time may develop high blood pressure or insomnia.

Holistic health isn’t just about not being physically unwell; it’s a lifelong process of balancing the body for optimum wellbeing. People accept responsibility for their own wellbeing and understand that their own everyday choices will shape their own health.  Lifestyle choices will determine a large number of illnesses. These lifestyle choices included smoking, diet and alcohol, negative thinking and lack of exercise.

Many people turn to holistic healing if they do not see total results from conventional medicine but also many use holistic health as a complement to conventional medicine. Others use it even when they are not physically unwell, but to feel even better than they currently do.

Complementary medicine can be used by itself or alongside conventional medicine, but it should not be treated as a substitute for conventional medical care. If you are concerned about any health problem you should always visit your GP.  Holistic therapy does not diagnose and a consultation should not take the place of medical advice from a doctor.

Holistic Health in Practice
In terms of practice, the main difference is that holistic healing considers the whole person and their environment and not just the symptom.   A holistic approach to healing goes beyond just eliminating symptoms. For example, taking an aspirin for a headache would be like disconnecting the oil light on the dash of a car when it flashes. The irritation is eliminated, but the real problem still exists. In holistic medicine, a symptom is considered a message that something needs attention. The symptom is used as a guide to look below the surface for the root cause.  So, for example, reflexology works on the whole of each foot, covering all reflex points of the body to balance all aspects of a person and we then, further, will look at other aspects of your lifestyle to ensure the healing continues in between treatments.
